'Blending my skills as a medical doctor and a chiropractic doctor greatly enhanced my clinical expertise and benefits my patients by improving their personal wellness and health.'
Dr. Marina Alterman is a native of Russia. In 1991 her family moved to the United States and they have made this country their home since then. She has an extensive medical background - educational as well as practical. In 1983 she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Moscow Medical College No.5 with a degree in Medical Technology and worked for several years at one of Moscow's Children's Hospitals in the Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory. In 1991 she received an MD in Pediatrics from the Russian State Medical University in Moscow. After moving to the US she worked in research laboratories for several years: in a pathology lab at Texas A&M University and in a molecular biology lab at the University of Kansas. She has been published several times in major peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Alterman turned to chiropractics through personal experience. Her first encounter with chiropractics happened at the end of the 90s when she suddenly began to suffer severe allergies, and neither her physician nor the allergologist were able to cure her. Finally, she was referred by one of her friends to Dr. Adams, D.C. who was able to restore her health. This experience made such a great impact on her that she started to read about chiropractics and other kinds of alternative medicine. Subsequently, she entered Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, which she graduated Cum Laude in 2005. Dr. Alterman has continued her chiropractic education with post-doctoral seminars in: Chiropractic Pediatrics and Pregnancy, Meridian Therapy, Acupuncture, Chiropractic Rehab, Pettibone Technique, and Activator Technique. She is one of the only two Fellows of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (F.I.C.P.A.) practicing in Montgomery County, MD. This combination of medical and chiropractic background in Pediatrics and Pregnancy allows Dr. Alterman to treat kids and pregnant women with more precision and detail. For the treatment of adults and the elderly, Dr. Alterman has integrated aspects of three of the most respected and corrective techniques in chiropractics today. This combination is made up of the Diversified, Activator, and SOT techniques. This creates a gentle way to correct musculoskeletal problems in osteoporotic patients. The most important goal for Dr. Alterman is to address and correct her patients' actual problems.
